Coutts sexism claim rejected
A FEMALE financier has lost a £400,000 sexism claim against the Queen’s bank Coutts after telling a tribunal she was being paid less than she deserved.
Donna Ball, 53, of Stevenage, Hertfordshire, alleged she had hit a ‘glass ceiling’ at the private bank as her male managers repeatedly blocked her promotion.
But the Central London Employment tribunal rejected her allegations of gender discrimination, equal pay and victimisation as she earned more than all but one of her male counterparts. Her basic salary was over £60,000 plus a bonus of up to £10,000. The judge said Miss Ball had over-estimated her performance.
