The people’s friend
MANY older people are unable to lead an active life and depend on the TV for their daily lifestyle.
They can’t go out to the cinema, restaurants or the pub easily. When they watch films or football matches on TV, they can forget for a while how lonely they are.
I hope the BBC bosses who are contemplating scrapping free TV licences for the over- 75s will reconsider while they enjoy another glass of wine in a posh restaurant.

I CAN’T believe the cheek of the BBC. On my pension of £141 a week, I am expected to contribute to the over-inflated wages of its top earners and the stupidity of a new £87 million set for East Enders.
