Best of British?

-

FACED with having to fund the free licence fee for the over-75s, the BBC is lobbying Parliament to scrap this concession or fund it from other revenue.

This once-venerable institution characterised the best in the British way of life. Sadly, this is no longer the case and it is now indistinguishable from the other channels.

The Government should scrap the licence fee and make the BBC a subscription service for those prepared to pay.

Why should you have to choose between not watching TV or paying for a licence even though you never watch the BBC?

Dr T. KAVANAGH, Denham, Bucks.
