BROADBAND DEMAND

-

DEVELOPERS must be forced to install high-speed internet in all new homes, the Confederation of British Industry has said.

It wants laws to guarantee decent connections for existing properties too.

There are plans for a ‘universal service obligation’ to be introduced by 2020, and for requirements to give new houses cutting-edge fibre internet – but no laws.

CBI UK policy boss Matthew Fell said: ‘Businesses want to see fast-tracked legislation going through Parliament this year.’

The Mail has been exposing poor broadband connections across Britain.
