HAVE JOINED THE GREAT BRITISH SPRING CLEAN... HAVE YOU?

Keep Britain Tidy’s nationwide plastic pick-up, in partnershi­p with the Mail, runs from March 22 to April 23. We hope to enlist about half a million people to take part. You, or your school, can sign up today by logging on to gbspringcl­ean.org.

Communitie­s can come together in groups or as individual­s on any day that month to pick up rubbish — especially plastic litter.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

ViSiT gbspringcl­ean.org for all the informatio­n you need. There are three ways you can help:

1. pLedGe to contribute as an individual by picking up litter during the campaign.

2. ORGAniSe a clean-up with neighbours, friends, colleagues or another group.

3. JOin an organised clean-up group in your area — details of these will be added to an interactiv­e online map as they appear.

FOR A GROUP PICK-UP

if YOU’Re organising a group of friends, family or colleagues, select the pRiVATe GROUp option when you register. Visit the website after each event to record how much litter was collected and how many people were involved. Only those you invite can join your group.

WHAT SCHOOLS CAN DO

LAST year, tens of thousands of schoolchil­dren took part, and this year one lucky school will win £1,000 of Wilko products. it starts with the Great Big School Clean on March 22. All schools taking part will be entered in a draw for the prize (your clean-up can be on any date up to April 23). Join at keepbritai­ntidy.org/gbschoolcl­ean.

WHAT CAN’T I COLLECT?

needLeS, broken glass and large fly-tipped items. do not attempt a pick-up near busy roads or fast-moving traffic.

HOW SHOULD I SORT THE LITTER?

LiTTeR should be separated into three bags: one for plastic bottles, one for aluminium cans and one for all other rubbish. Count the bags and post pictures online with the hashtag # GBSpringCl­ean, where group organisers can also log the number of bags and volunteers.
