The packaging states: ‘This carton is fully recyclable and can be disposed of at your local recycling centre or placed in your domestic recycling box. To recycle the foil and the plastic insert, please ask your local recycling centre for details.’ By contrast, all the packaging for the Maltesers egg is made of cardboard and can be recycled.

Mr Ellin says this highlights the problems of mixing materials: ‘If something is made from one material that makes everything easier.’
