Will new Elton song send Rocketman into orbit?

-

Elton John and long-time writing partner Bernie tau pin have penned a new song for Rocketman, the film that follows their friendship, and the pop icon’s career and private life.

the pair haven’t recorded the untitled number yet, but if director Dexter Fletcher, the film’s producers and the Paramount studio releasing it are happy with it, then it will be used over the end credits.

taron Egerton plays the Royal Academy of Music student whose love of Elvis helped turn him into an unlikely rock god.

Egerton sings several songs in the film including honky Cat and tiny Dancer. Bennie And the Jets and Crocodile Rock are also featured.

Jamie Bell portrays taupin, with Bodyguard and Game of thrones star Richard Madden playing John Reid, Elton’s manager and former lover.

the film was screen-tested in San Francisco on Wednesday night and greeted with phenomenal enthusiasm and sky- high test figures — particularly encouraging, given that it featured some American R-rated scenes.

that version may not be the one that is eventually released. But those who have seen extensive footage told me Rocketman could end up being one of the hit movies of the year.

Meanwhile, guests attending the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 27th Annual Academy Awards Party on oscar night (February 24) may get a special treat: there are discussions about the possibility of Elton being joined by Egerton in a duet at the Beverly hills party.
