Missing M&S

LAST Saturday, Edgware’s M&S closed after 28 years. I wrote to the CEO to inform him this might mark the beginning of the end for local shops.

What was his response? He passed my complaint to his ops director, who fobbed me off with a bland reply.

How many of this store’s loyal customers will visit other branches, as M&S suggests? It will lose so much custom. PAMELA REDPATH, Edgware, Middlesex. I WAS saddened to read of the threatened closure of Felixstowe’s M&S (Mail). My local branch is also on the list for closure, which is causing similar annoyance and regret in my town. I’d like to tell the shoppers of Felixstowe that I share their pain.
