Why Camilla’s nephew was ‘scavenging in the bins’ at Tory ball

-

THE Duchess of Cornwall’s nephew Ben Elliot is taking his new role as Theresa May’s new Waste Food Champion extremely seriously.

During an amusing speech at the Conservative Party’s Black and White Party in Battersea on Wednesday, he told guests including Dame Joan Collins, Carphone Warehouse tycoon David Ross and make-up mogul Charlotte Tilbury that he’d be ‘scavenging in the bins’ after the dinner to make sure there was no wasted food.

He even said he would check that all those seated with the Prime Minister had finished every scrap. With guests paying up to £15,000 per table and dining on seabass ceviche, braised short ribs and poached pears with ricotta cream washed down with burgundy and haut medoc, there really shouldn’t have been many leftovers.
