‘Fire risk’ fridges still being sold

BRITAIN’S biggest appliance suppliers are continuing to sell plastic-backed fridges despite warnings of fire risks.

A report into the Grenfell Tower tragedy – sparked by a fridge fire – said plastic casing could potentially fuel blazes.

But Which? consumer group last month found that AO.com was selling 173 plastic-backed fridges, Argos 137, Currys PC World 56 and John Lewis three.

All four said they were fast reducing the number of such fridges for sale but stressed they met safety standards.
