Expat body found year after death

THE body of a British pensioner has been found in her Costa del Sol home nearly a year after she died.

Police launched an inquiry after finding the body under a mattress in the property near Marbella she shared with her daughter.

The 71-year-old, named locally as Valerie Butroid, is believed to have died of natural causes in March last year.

Spanish police are trying to find out why the daughter, Louise Butroid, born in Lincolnshire, did not report her death. She did not comment yesterday, and a police spokesman was unavailable.
