I’m losing my husband to his cycling obsession
TV’s sTeph and Dom parker, 51 and 54, draw on their 20 years of marriage to solve your relationship problems . . .
QMY HUSBAND is driving me mad. Last autumn, he took early retirement at 58. I thought this would mean we’d get to spend more time together.
Soon after, a friend invited him on a group bike ride. I thought it’d be a good chance for him to leave the house.
But in the past five months it has become an obsession. At first, he was going out for a couple of hours a week. Then four-hour rides. Now he’s out most Saturdays, from 9am to 5pm.
Then there’s the spending. Suddenly he needs a new saddle, bottle, sunglasses or bike! He’s taken over the garage.
I know I should be happy he’s found a new hobby. But I feel resentment and jealousy when I watch him pedal off. We barely spend any time together.
I’m lonely and I worry about him on the roads. I’d rather he resolved this midlife crisis with a flashy car. Can I do anything?
