Now Victoria to shed snake skin

-

VICTORIA Beckham is to stop using exotic skins in her luxury fashion line after bowing to pressure from animal rights groups.

The designer – who has sold bags and accessories made from python, ostrich and alligator for up to £18,000 – has given in to calls from campaign group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and ruled out using the skins in future – and confirmed an earlier commitment not to use real fur.

PETA has exposed cases of animal cruelty in the luxury goods industry, including snakes found nailed to trees before being sliced open and skinned alive.

A spokesman for Mrs Beckham, pictured, said: ‘This decision reflects the wishes of not only the brand, but also that of our customers.’

PETA’s Elisa Allen said: ‘Victoria Beckham’s decision to ban exotic skins will spare countless remarkable animals immense suffering.’
