Why her famous golfer dad could have been a handicap for Kirsty

SPORTS TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher claims being the daughter of professional golfer Bernard Gallacher has been more of a hindrance than a help in her career.

‘I had a lot of proving myself because of my dad,’ says the 43-yearold. ‘“Oh it’s Bernie Gallacher’s daughter, she got a job at Sky Sports.”

‘OK, you might meet people in the beginning and get a foot in the door, but if you aren’t good enough, you’re soon going to sink.’

Kirsty, who has two children by her exhusband, footballer Paul Sampson, adds: ‘As for the looks thing, I don’t see myself as anything special.

‘ But I think again women — or men— that are good-looking in the industry, yes they’ve got that little foot in the door and people enjoy looking at them, but unless you are good, you are actually more in the line of fire.’
