… or £1,000 for a bag just to carry lipstick?

-

THE latest ‘It bag’ by high-end designer Louis Vuitton usually goes flying off the shelves.

This season’s offering from the French fashion house (left) might be more of an acquired taste, though – as it only has room to hold two particular items.

The tiny leather case, attached to a gold chain and featuring the brand’s trademark monogram, can hold just two lipsticks, but has a price tag of £960.

Available in either brown and gold or tan and silver, the bag is expected to arrive in the UK next month. Described by Vogue magazine as the new ‘It bag’, Nicolas Ghesquiere’s creation is designed to be worn either around the neck, across the body or attached to another bag. The accessory is inspired by 1920s art deco make-up cases and features a ‘handy’ mirror inside the lid.

The creation seems to have divided opinion, with some calling it a must-have and others baffled by the hefty price tag.

The designer brand has a number of other ‘travel accessories’ which are already available to buy in the UK, including a 200ml snakeskin travel case for £3,400 and a jewellery case for £840. Last year, the label launched a pair of monogrammed headphones, costing an astonishing £880.
