‘Sexy Theresa’ advert pulled
WINKING and dolled up in red lipstick and a low-cut top, she’s not looking terribly prime ministerial.
But this is Theresa May according to an online investment company’s rather crude advertisement. The text reads: ‘Her deal or yours? Make the markets your own on a historic day for Brexit.’
It was swiftly withdrawn after attracting accusations of so-called ‘everyday sexism’. Twitter user Anastasia Zaw said: ‘Not quite sure who this “sexy Theresa May” image is meant to appeal to.’
Another, Notthatcameron, said: ‘More everyday sexism faced by women politicians of all parties. Hypersexualisation of other people to further your own profits is a depressingly regular event in patriarchal capitalism.’
Capital.com apologised and said it had not intended to cause offence.
