I’D JUST started as a community care worker when I was sent to give a lady a bath. I arrived, introduced myself and told her why I was there. She was so pleased as she had been in hospital and it had been a long time since she’d had a bath. Afterwards, she asked when I would be coming again. I explained that because of rotas, another carer might be sent. As I was driving to the next appointment, I got a call from the office to ask why I had not been to the client waiting for her weekly bath. Yes, you’ve guessed — I had gone to the wrong address. The lady I had bathed was not even one of our clients. She may still be waiting for her next bath!
