AI boost in war on ovarian cancer
ARTIFICIAL Intelligence can help predict the chances of survival for ovarian cancer patients, research suggests.
Software developed by Imperial College, London and Melbourne University was up to four times more accurate than current prediction methods.
Researchers used a tool called TEXLab to examine CT scans of tumours and tissue samples from 364 patients between 2004 and 2015. It analyses a tumour’s structure and genetic makeup and gives the patient a score to indicate the severity of their disease. Scientists said the technology could lead to more effective, tailored treatment.
