EDF profits are battered

NEARLY a quarter of EDF’s earnings were wiped out after it lost 200,000 British customers to rivals.

The French energy provider said its earnings before tax in the UK plummeted 16.5pc to around £691m in 2018. It blamed a tough retail market and a downturn in cash it makes from nuclear power generation. Overall the group’s sales came in at £7.9bn, an increase of 3.9pc. But profits plunged 63pc to £1bn.
