HE BACKS KEEPER OVER ‘NAZI SALUTE’
ROY HODGSON believes Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey will be found ‘totally innocent’ over allegations that he made a Nazi salute. Hennessey played in the FA Cup at Doncaster after confirming last week that he will contest an FA charge over the alleged gesture in a photograph with team-mates. It was the Wales international’s first start since playing in the third-round win over Grimsby at the start of last month, but Hodgson insisted he had no worries about playing him. ‘We are both hoping and confident that charge won’t lead to any particular sanctions,’ said Hodgson. ‘We believe he is totally innocent of any charge being made, although we do understand in this current climate that the FA are duty bound to research anything.’
