EATING fibre could help patients with lupus. A study in the journal Cell Host & Microbe found mice fed resistant starch, which mimics a high-fibre diet in humans, had lower levels of Lactobacillus reuteri — a bacterium linked to the autoimmune disease lupus — in their guts.
