Brexit logjam

-

A RADICAl approach is needed to tackle the dreadful Brexit impasse.

Why can’t we appoint an arbitrator from outside the UK and EU to rule on the two key sticking points of the Irish border backstop and the customs union?

What other choice do we have when all parties involved are at loggerheads and the nation is sick of the whole wretched shambles?

It may be that Article 50 would have to be delayed for a few months for the right person — probably from the U.S. — to be selected, but this would be a small price to pay, as it would give certainty to any deal arrived at.

Better still, maybe the threat of going to arbitration would bring both sides to their senses in order to

negotiate a compromise by March 29.

PETER SPRIGGS, Hemel Hempstead, Herts.

I WOULD like to make a plea to the reader who said she would never vote again if we do not leave the EU as promised (Letters).

That’s what Remainers hope for — that Brexiteers will not vote. If there is another referendum, we need to get out there and show them we mean business and we’re not stupid.

We knew what we voted for, and by turning out in even greater numbers we will get it. If you do nothing, the moaning Remainers will have won. Mrs MAUREEN PROTHEROE,

Pontllanfraith, Gwent.
