Council’s not rubbish
ENVIRONMENT Secretary Michael Gove has called on councils to collect rubbish weekly. In Hillingdon, we have free weekly rubbish, recycling, garden and food waste collections. Our 17 libraries have all been refurbished and have full activity programmes. And our council tax has not been raised for ten years.
If Hillingdon can fulfil these basics, why can’t other councils do the same?

KEEP Britain Tidy’s litterpicking campaign, backed by the Mail, has been a long time coming.
My husband and I belong to the Redbridge Nature Conservation group: we plant trees and bulbs and clear brambles, ponds and rivers in parks and forests.
The amount of rubbish we find is unbelievable. We often pick up rubbish in and around the street where we live, too.
