Man is held over ‘no blacks’ graffiti
A MAN has been arrested after ‘ no blacks’ was spraypainted on the door of a family originally from Africa.
The 5 -year-old was held on suspicion of racially aggravated criminal damage.
Jackson Yamba, 38, a solicitor from the Democratic Republic of Congo, had the abusive graffiti painted on his front door and entrances to the flats where he lives with his ten-year-old son and a friend in Salford.
It was only after he tweeted about the abuse, discovered on February 8, that Greater Manchester Police investigated and apologised for the delay.
Superintendent Howard Millington, of Greater Manchester Police’s Salford Division, said: ‘While we have a man in custody, our inquiries into this deplorable crime are very much ongoing.
‘I want to emphasise we are acutely aware of the strength of public feeling surrounding this incident.
‘Let me reassure people that where incidents of this nature take place, we will always pursue a prosecution.’
