High on stupidity! Two daredevils scale crane 820ft up … without safety gear
IT was wet and getting dark. But that didn’t deter these two daredevils from risking their lives as they larked around at 820ft up on the top of a skyscraper.
Without safety ropes, the pair posed on the jib of a crane being used in Canary Wharf, east London, to build Europe’s tallest residential block. Syed Bukhari, 21, and Owen Reece, 18, had entered the Landmark Pinnacle site after builders finished work on Saturday afternoon. They ran up the stairs inside until they were near the top of the 5-storey block, then clambered outside and scaled the huge crane.
Friends used a drone to film their hourlong stunt, during which they balanced on the end of the jib. Last night developers Chalegrove Properties said they were tightening security at the site and working with the Metropolitan Police to ‘hold those involved accountable’.
They added: ‘We strongly condemn the actions of those involved as it not only endangers them but the lives of the public around the site.’
