Yum? A vegan ‘creme egg’

-

GREGGS’ new meatfree sausage roll may be moreish. But if you’re still hungry after your main, then here’s an idea for dessert – a vegan ‘creme egg’. Mummy Meagz claims its egg, pictured, which is based on the Cadbury’s classic, is ‘as good as, if not better than, the dairy alternatives’.

The small company from Cottingham, near Hull, made its first batch of ‘cruelty-free’ cream eggs five years ago and starting selling them in their coffee shop. Since they became available online, however, they have boomed in popularity.

Meagan Boyle, the company’s owner, said: ‘We didn’t see why people should miss out on an indulgent Easter treat just because of their ethical lifestyle choices. They are like gold dust at the moment and we just can’t spare any.’
