Workers left in the lurch
WE HAVE not even left the EU and Japan is pulling out of Britain. Now it has a free trade deal with the EU it can make cars at home, keep more of the money and spend capital sums in Japan to help its economy.
As the EU strikes free trade deals with more and more countries, other companies will follow Honda’s lead.
Why manufacture here and pay tariffs? Even if we get a trade deal with Japan, it won’t be as advantageous as the Japan/EU deal.

DAVE JOHNS, Brighton. HONDA is moving its operations back to Japan with a loss of thousands of jobs in Britain.
The EU has just signed a trade deal with Japan that will let cars come directly from Japan to the EU without having to pay tariffs.
Is Brussels playing dirty tricks, trying to ruin our economy to persuade us to change our minds and stay in the EU? This is just another reason to Leave. We can and will be successful outside the EU.
