No-Deal dilemma

-

WE SHOULD not wonder why the EU is so intransigent. As they see it, we have three options: take the withdrawal deal on offer, including the inescapable backstop tying us to the EU; stay in the EU; or leave without a deal. This would hit the EU just as hard as us.

Brussels would be deliriously happy with either of the first two options and doesn’t believe Parliament would vote for the third, though voters might in another referendum.

It is obvious they will continue to say ‘No’ whatever we offer and for however long. Parliament should stop kicking the can down the road and take a final vote.

If MPs continue to vacillate, then reluctantly we must go to the people to decide.

We should remember that taking the deal may tie us into a perpetual customs union and preclude trade deals with the rest of the world.

Staying in the EU will be a loss of face worldwide. But leaving without a deal gives us back control of our laws, money and borders and allows us to trade anywhere we want.

IF THErE is No Deal, health cover in Spain for my wife and I will stop on March 29.

We will need to pay the Spanish government £ 136 each for health cover plus the cost of prescriptions.

as my wife has to take six tablets a day for a heart condition, heaven knows what that will cost.

I hope that everyone who is clamouring for No Deal has a spare room because there could be 300,000 expats turning up on your doorstep.
