ASOS SHIRT DRESS, £14 (WAS £35)
95pc polyester, 5pc elastane, wash at 40 degrees
WHAT: Mid-calf length, figurehugging shirt dress which looks reasonably expensive in spite of being unlined. The belt drags it down with a faux tortoiseshell buckle.
HOME TEST: After five washes, it has shrunk by three per cent, though up to seven is fine, says Jim. No colour change or difference in texture.
LAB TESTS: All tests were good, although the seam strength was low compared to the fabric strength, meaning that it is more likely to break at the seam — though, when manually tugged very hard, there was no ripping at all. Asos declined to comment. 30 WEARS? YES
