MONTY DON’S JAPANESE GARDENS, 9PM, BBC2

-

IT’S autumn as a Zen-like Monty Don returns to Japan for the second and final part of this restful series. There, he learns how the residents of Tokyo, y , one of the most overpopulated o and busiest cities on the p planet, are making a concerted effort to add green to their city, creating gardens in the smallest of spaces, from roadside to rooftops. During his travels, Monty drops in to a garden centre to see what plants the ordinary Japanese gardener is buying. He also tries his hand at the ancient art of bonsai, and pays a visit to the Adachi Museum of Art in Yasugi, whose garden (pictured) has been voted the most beautiful in Japan.
