Klopp cops £45,000 fine

-

JuRGEN KLOPP has been fined £45,000 for his comments about referee Kevin Friend after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw at West Ham earlier this month. Klopp accepted an FA charge after claiming Friend was affected by the decision to allow a Sadio Mane goal to stand despite it being offside. the Liverpool manager suggested Friend realised his mistake and tried to make up for it over the remainder of the game. He said: ‘We scored a goal that was offside but i think the ref knew at half-time and you saw there were a lot of strange situations — not decisive, just rhythm-breakers — 50-50s, 60-40s, free-kicks for the other team.’ the FA said Klopp’s comments ‘questioned the integrity of the referee and/or implied bias’. ipswich manager Paul Lambert has been given a two-game touchline ban and fined £3,000 after clashing with Norwich staff during the derby at carrow Road 12 days ago. ipswich were fined £25,000 and Norwich £20,000 for failing to control their players in the melee that followed the incident, with Lambert sent to the stands against his old club.
