10-man Celtic sent packing

BRENDAN RODGERS blamed German referee Deniz Aytekin after Celtic crashed out of Europe last night. Kevin Gameiro’s second-half strike put Valencia 3-0 up on aggregate before Celtic’s Jeremy Toljan was sent off for a second yellow card. Rodgers took issue with Toljan’s sending off, insisting his side were in control before they went down to 10 men after 37 minutes. He said: ‘I spoke to him (Aytekin) just after the game. He said it was a definite sending-off. I thought it was really harsh. ‘You just sensed we were building into the game and it was disappointing. That was a key moment that took the game away from us. It’s unfortunate.’
