HIS partner and muse died 30 years ago. He had no children. Now there is much gossip about who will inherit fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld’s £150 million fortune. Apparently his beloved cat, Choupette, is first in line. For a man variously described as enchantingly kind and wickedly cruel, what a fabulous epitaph: leaving his nieces and nephews in the dark about whether they will get a share of his money. Or whether it will go to an animal which is mischievously described on its own Twitter account as ‘a spoiled pussy whose maids pamper her every need’.
