French locals are objecting to the construction of a memorial to the 22,442 Allied forces who died in the D-Day landings. They complain it will interfere with their sea views. A small price to pay considering what might have been the alternative — being ruled from Berlin if the Brits hadn’t rescued France from Hitler.
