Pearson revenues drop

-

PEARSON’S boss has vowed to get the business back on track after revenues fell again last year.

Sales at the academic publisher fell 9pc to £4.1bn, compared with a year earlier. But chief executive John Fallon is hopeful they will start rising again in 2020. Profits, however, rose 18pc to £498m. The results come days after it sold its US textbook business for £193m.

The firm has been trying to grow its digital publishing arm while cutting down its £432m debts.

Fallon, 56, said: ‘ We expect company-wide sales to stabilise this year, and grow again in 2020 and beyond.’
