Stonewall chief quits
THE chief executive of the gay rights campaign group Stonewall has resigned amid accusations that the charity has an increasing fixation on transgender issues.
Ruth Hunt is stepping down after two of Stonewall’s ambassadors and donors withdrew support because of its backing for the ‘trans cause’.
One of them, TV writer Maureen Chadwick, told The Sunday Times she had no idea ‘how completely the militant “trans” agenda would overwhelm Stonewall’.
Miss Chadwick, creator of Bad Girls and Footballers’ Wives, urged Stonewall’s board to ‘wake up’ before ‘any more young lives are damaged’.
Miss Hunt, chief executive for five years, said: ‘I have decided it’s time for someone else to lead this fantastic organisation.’ She dismissed ‘the conspiracy theories about my departure’.
