Arrest over fan attack

One of Schalke’s ‘ultra’ fans has been arrested after an assault left a Manchester City supporter fighting for his life. The 32-year-old remains in a medically induced coma after the attack following City’s dramatic 3-2 Champions league victory last Wednesday. Gelsenkirchen police arrested a 30-year-old member of Schalke’s ultra group, known as the ‘Hugos’, yesterday. The City fan, who has not been named, was in Germany with his family and was punched as the first leg drew to a close. He suffered what has been described as a ‘massive trauma to the skull and brain’ and is in a critical condition.
