No jail for data dealers

-

INSURANCE insiders who made £ 18,000 by stealing customer data and selling it to a claims management company have avoided prison.

AXA Insurance worker Shane Jerman, 29, took photographs on his mobile phone of around 100 pieces of data a week in 2015 and sent them to former colleague Stuart McGill, 30, in exchange for payments of up to £650. McGill then sold the data to Jack Greenwood and Andrew Franks who exploited it for their claims firm, Mid North West Ltd.

The four men pleaded guilty to bribery charges and, on Friday, were sentenced at Preston court. All four received suspended prison sentences and each was ordered to do 180 hours of unpaid work.
