YOU HAVE YOUR SAY

-

EVERY week, Money Mail receives hundreds of your letters and emails about our stories. Here are some from our article on how you could make extra cash by decluttering your home:

IT’S not worth the time and effort to try to sell things. I take all my unwanted stuff to charity shops. There are also websites that help you recycle. It always feels good to have a clear-out once a year. N. L., by email. MY PARENTS are moving house, so I’ve started clearing out all my old things there. Using an auction website, I have managed to sell quite a lot of clutter. I hope to use the cash to buy a new kitchen. A. E., North Yorks. I HAVE been trying for ages to sell a ladies’ jacket. It cost me £90 and I want £50. The first person I heard from backed out and the next did so as I was too far away and wanted to meet in person. S. A., Leeds. SELLING on auction websites just isn’t worth it any more. Once the website has taken its cut and you have driven to the Post Office and paid for postage, you can end up spending more than you make. M. T., by email. THERE are other ways to recycle. When my friend’s husband died, I took a pile of his clothes to make her a ‘memory quilt’. You can see all the logos and patterns, which helps the family remember him. D. W., by email. UNLESS you have some decent antiques or jewellery to part with, it’s not worth the hassle to sell off all your things for a few pounds. A. S., by email.
