DAISY and Drew (Sara Pascoe and Paapa Essiedu, pictured) make a more than comfortable living telling other people how to live their lives. They run a lifecoaching business, guiding their many clients through the pitfalls of the modern world. In the one-off comedy drama COACHES (RADIO 4, 11.30AM), Daisy takes a methodical approach to her work, while Drew just wings it. His casual attitude irritates Daisy, especially as he’s the one who gets the good results.

EVERY episode of the powerful series FALL OF THE SHAH (BBC WORLD SERVICE, 1.30PM, 11.05PM) works as a one-off drama. Today’s play takes us back to December 1978 and moves between Iran and the U.S., where the American administration is failing to understand the weakness of the Shah’s grasp on the

Peacock Throne; meanwhile, revolution ferments throughout his realm. Diana Rigg provides a cool, clear narration for a drama that follows the epic sweep of history, as well as homing in on the stories of ordinary people caught up in events. Riveting and eye-opening.

HAND sanitisers and vitamin C tablets are among the plethora of products advertised to keep the common cold at bay. To conclude his series THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD? (RADIO 4, 9PM), Greg Foot asks if taking these measures actually does any good.
