LONDON’S GAMES BID
UK SPORT have declared their interest in a bid to bring the Olympics back to London.
Although the Games were held in London in 2012 exploratory talks have taken place at the agency over a move to land the Games in 2032 or 2036.
UK Sport’s outgoing chief executive Liz Nicholl told London’s Evening Standard: ‘We’ve got some great facilities and it would be great to see it done again.
‘If you were looking at where a european location would best next fit (in the Olympic cycle), it would be great if it was 2032 but 2036 is more likely.’
The plan is yet to be discussed with the British Olympic Association, who are responsible for tabling any bid to the International Olympic Committee.
