WELL done, Tom Utley (Mail), for bringing common sense into the transgender issue.

He rightly argues it would be dangerous to allow individuals to self- declare gender without an assessment.

Giving a man who selfdeclares himself to be a woman immediate entry to women’s toilets and changing rooms could end in disaster.

While I have sympathy with the tiny minority who suffer from gender dysphoria, in its obsession not to appear transphobic, the Government is blind to the dangers of its absurd proposal.

More worrying is that impressionable children are subjected to transgender issues in schools. Giving puberty-blocking drugs to children, who may grow out of doubts about their gender, is little short of criminal. DAVID MORGAN, Shrewsbury.
