Harry Potter and Star Wars lift Lego

BOOMING demand for Star Wars and Harry Potter sets boosted business at Lego last year.

Profits rose 3pc to £1.2bn for 2018 as sales increased by 4pc to £4.1bn after falling in 2017.

Lego has bucked the trend for digital gadgets after revenue was boosted by strong doubledigit growth in China.

A Lego version of the Star Wars Millennium Falcon spaceship was last year’s best seller while four Harry Potter-themed sets were among the top ten.

Jurassic World and Ninjago were also among Lego’s top-selling building set themes in 2018.
