VAN GOGH’S CHAIR (1888); VINCENT’S CHAIR AND PIPE (1988)
HOCKNEY’S painting is a homage to Van Gogh’s own empty chair in his Yellow House in Arles, France. Hockney even included a similar pipe that rests at almost the same angle as the Dutch artist’s. He has, however, distorted the perspective of the chair more.
