LEAGUE MUST BUY CHARLTON, SAYS OWNER
CHARLTON owner Roland Duchatelet has told the Football League to ‘acquire’ his club, just weeks after rejecting an offer of more than £30million. In a statement the EFL said: ‘We can confirm that we have received a request from Charlton Athletic’s majority shareholder Roland Duchatelet, which we will review and subsequently respond to as appropriate.’ Duchatelet (below) has said he is hoping to recoup around £70m. He has also criticised the League for letting him buy Charlton in 2014, suggesting foreign owners should not be allowed to buy English clubs.
