The world’s most expensive hotel suite
It’s designed by Damien Hirst – and costs £150k for two nights
IT’S 9,000 square feet of over the top splendour – featuring a balcony pool, artworks, a butterfly theme...and two dead sharks in a cabinet.
Controversial British artist Damien Hirst has created the most expensive hotel suite ever, costing £150,000 for a two-night stay.
The two-floor suite at Palms Casino in Las Vegas contains six original artworks by Hirst and is covered in motifs linked to his famous pieces. It has a private balcony pool with butterfly tiles.
Hirst, 53, had come under fire for killing thousands of butterflies at a 2012 Tate Modern exhibition. The suite also features a tank containing two bull sharks overlooking a pool table.
Hirst created a celebrated 1991 artwork with a tiger shark preserved in formaldehyde. The artist was commissioned to design the suite by the family who own the hotel and casino. Hirst said: ‘They have allowed me to design everything and completely fill it with my art.’
It is being advertised to wealthy clients as a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience.
