- By SAMI MOKBEL

SCOTT PARKeR wants the Fulham job on a permanent basis — and has received a detailed blueprint on how to achieve his ambition from none other than Sir Alex Ferguson. Claudio Ranieri was sacked on Thursday with Parker appointed as caretaker manager. Ranieri made a flying visit to Fulham’s training ground yesterday to bid farewell to the players. he also held a 10-minute debrief with Parker as he handed over the reins. Former Fulham and england midfielder Parker admitted he wants to be considered for the permanent job but acknowledged that the remaining 10 games of the season will be key to his chances. The 38-year-old revealed a text message from Manchester United legend Ferguson (right) that could help his challenge. ‘I don’t have many friends, but on Thursday my phone was pinging all the time,’ said Parker. ‘Sir Alex found the time to send a long, detailed message giving me advice on how he sees things, which is truly inspirational. ‘It was a long message but when you are looking through your messages — and there were a lot of them — to get one from Sir Alex was amazing. ‘he made some different points about the modern-day footballer, how he handled certain things and just some bullet points for me, which was amazing really.’ On his attempts to land the job permanently, Parker added: ‘It’s definitely an audition. ‘I’ve got an ambition to be a manager but at this moment in time my focus is trying to get the team together, get some stability — and to take a deep breath.’
