DAVID ‘BUMBLE’ LLOYD’S ODI SERIES RATINGS

-

JASON ROY 8.5/10:

Making brilliant progress. I have an inkling the penny has dropped and he’ll become a contender for Test cricket this summer.

JONNY BAIRSTOW 6:

Not in the greatest form but showed his character in Grenada to help set up that epic total with a half-century. Was bowled again in the last game.

ALEX HALES 7:

He’s a very canny player who gets himself in and then accelerates. He will push the opening pair all the way for a World Cup place.

JOE ROOT 7.5:

Don’t worry about his last couple of dismissals. He’s a complete cricketer. Fastest England batsman to 5,000 one-day international runs. Busy and doesn’t need to blast it.

EOIN MORGAN 9:

Brilliant captaincy — think bringing on Adil Rashid for the 48th over in Grenada — and is in the form of his life with the bat. Could easily become first England captain to lift the World Cup this summer.

JOS BUTTLER 9:

Just gets better and better. Supremely fit, immensely strong and hits a cricket ball as far as anyone in the game. A special talent. BEN STOKES 8:

Heartbeat of the team. If you want something to happen, give the ball to Stokes. Has learned to play the situation with the bat and is totally selfless. As good as any all-rounder England have had. MOEEN ALI 5.5:

These grounds haven’t been big enough for his orthodox off-spin, which has gone the distance and has left him trying to work out how he can possibly limit the damage. CHRIS WOAKES 6:

Captain’s dream. Accepts responsibility and will bowl at any time, either end. Knows he will get some tap, as in Grenada and St Lucia, but will never shy away. LIAM PLUNKETT 6.5:

Very intelligent with use of cross-seam and cutters. Such a big figure in the last four years but may be vulnerable now because of Jofra Archer. Most economical bowler in the Grenada carnage. ADIL RASHID 9:

Best one-day spinner to play for England. Fact. Spins it both ways and keeps coming back for more when he gets hit. A special person who is relishing his key role in this England white-ball side. MARK WOOD 9:

The bolter! He’s just propelled himself into a World Cup spot. Now he just has to stay fit, so England will have to look after him. This extended run-up of his has made him into a genuine fast bowler. Even in St Lucia, he was the pick of the attack. TOM CURRAN 5: Bowled better than his figures suggest on his only real chance in Barbados and didn’t get an opportunity to impress in St Lucia. WEST INDIES: Gayle 10; Campbell 7; Hope 6.5; Bravo 7; Hetmyer 8.5; Holder 8; Brathwaite 8.5; Nurse 6; Bishoo 4; Cottrell 8; Thomas 8.5; Pooran 2.
