National Trust snub for Ringo

-

IT’S not Penny Lane or Abbey Road, but 9 Madryn Street has a special place in the hearts of Beatles fans – it’s Ringo Starr’s childhood home. But yesterday the National Trust was accused of shunning a ‘golden opportunity’ by refusing to adopt it as a heritage attraction. Instead, the terraced house in Liverpool will be mothballed.

The charity said it couldn’t afford all the properties it would like, but campaigner Steve Barnes called the decision ‘crazy’.
