Follow-up

Further to the recent letter concerning the German dentist and the terrified patient (Peterborough), I recall being about 22 years old and going to have a large cyst removed. Come the day of the operation, during which I was to be an in-patient, I was visited by a smart, whitecoated gentleman with a clipboard who introduced himself with: ‘Guten morgen. I am Dr Fleischer and I will be doing the operation.’ having some knowledge of the German word fleischer, which means butcher, I was understandably terrified until he explained he would only be supervising the operation and that another surgeon would actually be carrying out the procedure. this brought incredible relief.
